Catt’s Story…..

Catt approached Friday Staffing looking for a career. She had previous experience in retail and the automotive industries, and she wanted to find a reliable, local company where she could use her experience and grow. She met with a staffing generalist, who suggested Demmel, Inc., a German-based company that had recently opened a facility in the US. “I was set up with an interview with the General Manager and was instantly drawn to the opportunity for growth and development with the focus on work-life balance,” says Catt. Catt advanced to the role of Production Supervisor at Demmel, ensuring that all production lines were running properly, managing personnel and shipping and receiving. She also continued working with her staffing generalist at Friday’s to place other employees at Demmel.

Meet Deborah 

Chief Operating Officer, Vice President

Responsibilities: daily oversight of Friday’s operational and professional divisions; strategic planning and development of short and long range plans for the company, direct, organize, and evaluate functions assigned to divisions, develop relationships with new and existing clients as well as key community organizations.

“I most enjoy seeing people who have experienced difficult circumstances be placed in jobs they enjoy and where they can succeed. Almost weekly we have people who walk into our office who have dealt with tragic personal situations; people who have made decisions that have negatively impacted their lives but want and deserve to be given a second chance, and people who have served our country in the armed services and want to support their families after re-entering civilian life. I’ve seen the lives of our employees and their families be completely changed. I’ve also seen many of our employees hired permanently and then move forward into management positions – and now they work with Fridays to place new employees in their companies!”

Deborah’s Story….

In the early 1980s, I approached a professional headhunter firm in Asheville to find a job. The company placed me as a bank teller. After a year, I realized I wanted to do something different that aligned better with my long-term goals. Since the recruiting firm had helped me before, I returned in hopes of gaining their help again. They had opened open another division within their organization; a temporary staffing agency. The recruiter asked if I would be interested in coming to the office to discuss a new opportunity, and I agreed to do so. When I entered the office, there were two women busy on phone calls; one who I would later find out was the owner. At an empty desk was another phone ringing off the hook. I answered it and asked the caller if I could briefly put them on hold. Minutes later the owner finished the call she was on, walked toward me and asked what I was doing and if she could help me. Convinced that I’d ruined my chances with them, I told her I wasn’t trying to overstep my bounds, but wanted to make sure they didn’t lose the caller in the event it was a potential client. “When can you start?” the owner replied, and the rest, as they say, is history. I worked for that firm for five years. I began my career with Friday Staffing in 1989 in a sales position, later moving up to Branch Manager. In 1998 I was promoted to Vice President and in 2017 was promoted to my current position as Chief Operating Officer, Vice President.

Meet Brendan

Staffing Generalist

Simply put, a staffing generalist at Friday’s fulfills our mission of finding the right person for the right job, every time. To do this, I meet one-on-one with prospective employees and conduct thorough interviews to determine their capabilities, skills and interests. I also establish and maintain solid relationships with local companies, communicating regularly with Human Resource personnel, plant managers and company owners so I know first-hand what each job requires and what the atmosphere is like and can then match the employee with their best fit.

Brendan’s Story….

I am originally from Asheville and graduated from Asheville High. I graduated from UNC – Wilmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I worked in Raleigh as a Verification Specialist and then as an Investigative Researcher, completing pre-employment background checks. I love working for Friday’s because it gives me the opportunity to work with employees in person, not just on a computer.
