Givens Estates, a leading nonprofit continuing care retirement community in Asheville, has a full-time Maintenance Technician I position available on the Maintenance team. We're looking for someone to be self-motivated, have an exemplary work ethic, an eagerness to learn, good communication skills, and be willing to work in extreme weather conditions.

What you'll do:
  • Perform ancillary services for residents and team members working within the work order procedure
  • Set up for functions in Asbury and Oxford Commons or other facility areas
  • Be available to participate in on-call emergency maintenance requests other than regular working hours, including holidays
  • Be responsible for keeping your work-time reporting current and turning it in at the appropriate dates each month
  • Assist in removing snow and ice from bridges, walks, and roads using salt when necessary and advising appropriate team members when residents and team members avoid areas due to dangerous and/or slippery conditions
  • Be available to transport critical staff during inclement weather events
  • Work with supervisor to keep an adequate listing of maintenance supplies; purchase supplies and services as requested by supervisor
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Aging in Place Specialist to make home modifications
  • Advise supervisor of any repairs needed on campus and any items to be included in budget preparation
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance responsibilities

What you'll need:
  • Valid NC Driver's License
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a maintenance worker capacity,
  • Knowledge of general residential maintenance repairs
  • Exemplary work ethic and be self-motivated
  • Good communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions

Added plus if the candidate has:
  • Carpentry skills
  • Relevant licenses/certifications
  • Previous experience providing maintenance services in a health care setting
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards

Compensation: $17 - $19 per hour based on skillset and experience, plus our comprehensive benefits package and $1,000 sign-on bonus!
