[Register to View] , a nationally recognized nonprofit life plan community (continuing care retirement community) in Asheville, NC, is seeking a full-time salaried Assistant Facilities Director to lead our Safety and Security team. Reporting to the Facilities Director, the primary responsibility of this vital leadership position is to provide support, management, and leadership to the Safety and Security Officers and program implementation.

What you'll do:
  • Oversee and provide access control. Non-residents/staff will be asked to sign-in and provide identification as necessary. Ensure persons not allowed on campus do not gain entry. Direct person(s) off campus, as needed. Staff member(s) or resident(s) who verify by either a name badge or vehicle decal will be waved through
  • Maintain log documentation of visitors, register team members and resident vehicles, and issue decals as needed
  • Instruct Safety and Security Officers on active BOLO notices, trespass notices, and/or restraining order information pertaining to team members or residents
  • Monitor emergency call dashboard for alarms/alerts. Respond accordingly. These include but are not limited to pull cords and pendants, fire alarms, elopement devices, and any other building alarm system
  • Assist EMS personnel. Provide directions or locate residences, provide other support in emergency situations
  • Provide traffic control and enforce campus speed limit. Issue citations as necessary
  • Patrol campus, both on foot and vehicle patrols, and investigates any safety and security instances and respond accordingly
  • Assigns and conducts safety drills including but not limited to fire alarm training in the licensed areas of campus
  • Provides leadership and communication to residents and/or team members on campus safety and security related information
  • Assist residents/guests who have been locked out of the building. ID confirmation will be needed
  • Acts as security for and responds to staff and/or resident related issues. Including, team member terminations when requested by Human Resources
  • Perform (un)lock-up of campus commons buildings including Oxford Commons, Asbury Commons, Creekside Homes, Friendship Park, Green House, and Givens Estates Health Center and instructs officers to perform the same. This process will take approximately 2 hours and should be performed during appropriate hours, as directed during orientation
  • Be observant. Make note of any missing or out-of-place items or persons on campus
  • Provide leadership to the Officers on expectations for handling challenging situations or how to respond in certain scenarios
  • Keep record of tasks performed by completing Daily Activity Report and audit officer's DAR periodically to ensure proper oversight
  • Assist nursing staff in emergent situations as needed, such as locating residents who may be in distress
  • Perform as a First Responder to maintenance emergency calls after normal business hours
  • Assist the Facilities Director with the development and implementation of the Safety and Security Programs
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all assigned team members
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling staff scheduling and developing the work plan to meet budget guidelines
  • Adhere to annual budget and meet established goals through periodic monitoring and reporting
  • Serve on the Safety and Security Committees and various other committees with other staff and / or residents

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt with minimal supervision
  • Must have an active CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within the first 90 days
  • Excellent public relations skills
  • Valid NC Driver's License

Nice to haves:
  • EMT Certification
  • Two years of previous experience as a security supervisor or similar role
