Job Description

Job Title: Production Maintenance Technician

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports to: Production Maintenance Manager


Support the production side of the brewery to maintain optimum equipment reliability, availability, output rate and quality. This position reports to the Production Maintenance Manager and works closely with the Production Managers, Packaging Technicians and Brewing/Cellar Staff.


  • Provides support for maintenance and equipment matters on the production floor.
  • Maintains all production equipment in reliable condition, including preventative maintenance and equipment adjustment
  • Attends to breakdowns in a timely manner while striving to reduce downtime and waste
  • Dismantles, inspects, and rebuilds mechanical assemblies to ensure conformance to specifications or production requirements
  • Documents all maintenance work performed. Uses this information to make decisions to improve the reliability of the equipment and process
  • Maintains spare parts inventory and records, including organization of storage for ease of access. Works with Production Maintenance Manager to ensure inventory items are purchased as needed
  • Ensures downtime incidents are clearly communicated and escalated through appropriate channels
  • Works with the Production Maintenance Manager to schedule service technicians as needed
  • Works with the Production Maintenance Manager to schedule maintenance requiring equipment downtime
  • Works as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision while functioning as a productive team member
  • Ensures all safety regulations are followed, including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out, electrical safety, etc.
  • Works with technical documentation to research solutions to problems and ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed correctly
  • Works with production staff to further their knowledge of basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Experience :
  • Two years experience working in a production manufacturing facility, preferably in the beverage industry
  • Two years of maintenance experience in a production manufacturing facility

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Experience repairing electrical, hydraulic, steam and pneumatic systems
  • Working knowledge of the craft brewing industry and the brewing process
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
  • Willingness to work on and around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery is required.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

At-Will Employment : Employment with Highland Brewing Co. may be terminated by either Highland or the employee at any time with or without cause or notice.
